Editorial policy

ScoreLab News is produced by the ScoreLab Newsroom. Every story is approved by an editor before publication. These principles are public so readers know what they are reading and why.

Sourcing

Every story ends with a list of the sources used, with the publisher and (where available) author name and a link. We only rely on public sources that readers can see for themselves.

Official statements (clubs, federations, leagues) are marked "Official". Quotes are only used verbatim as they appear in the source and attributed to the speaker.

Rumours

Unverified claims and rumours are not published as news. A development only becomes a story once it is backed by at least one reliable, visible source.

Sensitive stories

In stories about detentions, arrests, investigations and trials the presumption of innocence comes first: no one is described as guilty without a final court ruling, and these stories open with a standard notice.

Suspects who are not public figures are identified by initials only, and we do not report on matters under a publication ban. Such stories rely on at least two independent sources and do not use photographs of the people involved.

Corrections and updates

When a story develops, the same article is updated; the time of the update and a short note are listed below the story.

When we find a mistake we fix it and say clearly what changed with a "Correction:" note. To request a correction, write to the contact address above.

Data

Statistics in analysis pieces are based on ScoreLab data and are labelled "Source: ScoreLab data".

Independence

ScoreLab is not a betting site; our stories contain no betting tips, odds recommendations or sponsored content.
